What is Regression Hypnotherapy?
The term ‘regression’ refers to a process of going back to an earlier state, and for Regression Therapy this means going to the source of a psychological problem. Regression Therapy employs a range of hypnotherapeutic and psychotherapeutic techniques, with a special focus on regression and on working with transpersonal experiences to transform them.
Hypnotherapy is not mind control or brainwashing, nor is it the gimmicky things you’ve seen on television where a person clucks like a chicken on demand, it is a genuine therapeutic technique that has been used in the world of psychology and psychotherapy for centuries. A therapist cannot make a person do something embarrassing or something the person does not want to do.
When past life stories appear, the therapy has been referred to as past life regression. This therapy does not try and prove the truth of these stories; rather, it uses the person’s experience and interpretation as a means of providing the powerful transpersonal experience for healing or an opportunity to understand karmic connections.
When traumatic memories are the source of the problem, regression therapy includes body memory transformation. Among psychotherapists, regression is regarded as a valuable psychiatric technique by many reputable practitioners as a means to resolve areas in life that cause the person angst or to feel stuck.
Regression Therapy is based on the principle that ill health follows when emotional stresses have overwhelmed and weaken the body’s defenses. As a protective mechanism against hurtful unexpressed emotions, the mind learns to anesthetize their intensity and block them off from conscious awareness, leaving behind a scar of unprocessed emotional tension. This may spill over in emotional outbursts or manifest as a headache, insomnia, peptic ulcer, irritable bowel syndrome, chronic fatigue syndrome or some other illness.
There is a physiological imperative for our human system to release stress to restore inner balance, and Regression Therapy provides the setting needed for this to take place.
Regression therapy is an opportunity to focus inward and experience fully that still place, or soul connection within that will allow each person to delve into situations or events that are connected to current physical, mental, or spiritual challenges they are experiencing in the here and now.
Through deep relaxation which is achieved through guided suggestions by the practitioner, there can be an unfolding that manifests understanding and insight toward resolve.
During this process the person is completely aware and in control. It is the state of deep relaxation that provides the gateway to higher and higher levels of understanding.

What to Expect from a Regression Hypnotherapy Session
We begin the session with inquiry about what draws you to this work and what your goal(s) and expectation(s) are. From this information, we can search for recurring patterns that may be creating present-day concern and then set the intention(s) to uncover their root cause thereby facilitating release and healing. Not all sessions are geared toward the need for healing however; some individuals arrive with the intention of meeting their spirit guides or to seek insight and/or guidance about a significant decision or life event they are grappling with.
Once the intention(s) have been established, we begin with a prayer. This is followed by a soothing, guided meditation to deeply relax you and to allow access to the subconscious. Through this access we will selectively reveal what is appropriate, intended and healing for your current life situation.
We close the session with a debriefing on the experience and to answer any questions.
Individuals have experienced glimpses of past lives, or they may delve into one specific past life in more detail. Others have discovered important repressed memories from their current lifetime. Some experience a release of emotion related to connecting with a loved one or a guide. There have been reports of seeing intense colors, visualizing symbolism that is connected to a personal experience or loved one, or experiencing unconditional love and a sense of extreme peace. Each journey is uniquely yours and there is no right or wrong way to experience a regression.
Oftentimes people feel that they are “making up” the information. As you become more comfortable with the process, you will discover that this information is indeed authentic, valuable and genuinely contributes to your intention(s), healing and overall well-being.
Go into the experience fully intending to find the answers that you seek and maintain an open mind. Don’t question what occurs or comes to you, simply experience it; trust and believe that there is something of value here for you!
What if it Doesn’t Work?
Most people are able to experience an alpha brain wave state of wakeful relaxation that is necessary to delve into the subconscious. Many clients succeed in the first session; others may need more than one session to fully relax and experience their intended needs. Some relax more deeply than others and have a more vivid and detailed recall. Others may greatly benefit just from the relaxation process at first as they gain confidence and trust in themselves and their ability. Your body, mind, and spirit will guide you to proceed at your own pace and things will be revealed with divine timing; trust the process. As your facilitator, I will be present throughout the whole experience to support and assist you, but, as always, you are the captain of your ship and therefore in charge of your unique journey and necessary healing.
How Will I Feel After a Session?
Some people feel very happy and peaceful while others may feel tired or experience a headache related to an emotional release, particularly if it is related to stored trauma. All of these reactions are normal and not harmful. Many people prefer to be alone afterwards to process and integrate the session. You may want to rest, take a relaxing walk, or write up any notes or reflections from your experience.
You may experience vivid dreams, be more observant of synchronistic events, or experience intuitive insights that will continue to provide you with additional information on the answers that you seek or toward healing, resolve and peace.
How Should I Prepare for the Session?
Sessions are scheduled for a two (2) hour timeframe and can be done via Zoom, or in-person. If you prefer to conduct the session remotely and don't have a Zoom account, it’s simple to open one and costs nothing if you aren’t facilitating large group meetings. I'll send you a Zoom meeting invitation to our appointment. You'll just click on the link on the day and time of our session and enter the password. You'll need to use a device for our session that has a camera and set up this device so I can see your face hands-free. A hands-free headset with a microphone is required for Zoom sessions; these can be earbuds or a headset, whatever you feel most comfortable with. If it's possible to plug directly into your modem, that would be optimal, otherwise, Wi-Fi will still work.
It’s best to schedule your appointment at a time when you can take the rest of the day off and not have an appointment, event or something that requires you to be fully present and engaged. This will give you time to absorb the session and contemplate the information you have received along with resting which will better able you to process and recover.
Wear comfortable, unrestricted clothing. Be sure you have eaten a good meal about an hour in advance of your session so your body is less likely to be focusing on the need for food. Don’t eat a heavy meal right before the session as it can weigh you down as your body focuses all its efforts toward your digestive track, or may produce the need to use the restroom. Light-restricting eye masks can enhance your experience. Avoid all alcohol and/or recreational drug use the day of the session.
For an in-person session, bring water for the debriefing and for your commute home. A blanket, pillow and knee support will be provided and you have the option of sitting or lying down. If you fall asleep easily, it is recommended that you remain in a sitting position.
